Maybe I'm just starved of some TB game to play but I'm keeping this on my radar. Missions have star(skull) ranking on them up to five and I only completed 1s and two 2s so maybe the combat depth might have some hope mid and late game. Character portraits are ugly and the writing is definitely not written or at least edited by a professional. I'm assuming most of the big bucks when to the animator(s) and almost no bucks went to the artist and writer. Even when an attack miss there is a custom animation for every class/monster's "dodge". I like that it has a real campaign, though and not just pure sandbox make your own fun like BB. The dialogue is so bloated and I didn't care for the characters that I just skipped most of them after a while. The campaign has A LOT of text and shitty reddit-style writing. Durability is pretty hefty as I didn't get a single equipment broken on my 6-7 hour playthrough. I don't think there is a repair mechanic. Equipment degrade when you use them and will break sooner or later. You're going to see something like 50 ATK sword with +5% to crit, 2% to block, etc. I didn't get any fancy loot but from the town's shops the itemization seems very basic with Diablo-like stats. This is fixed by just upgrading your Guardian's(paladin) and your Pugilist's(monk) heal spells. The challenge comes from not having enough heals when diving through a cave or a dungeon and losing to a war of attrition. If all your guys are fast enough, then all of them will get double attacking turns. If you have fast units they will get double turns due to this tactic.

It basically kills the standard TB initiative. By the time every enemy has done their move, most of them will be in range for all 4 of my guys who waited to attack. Basically I just place all my guys behind and just pop "wait" command on all of them at round 1. The actual combat is kinda shallow but still a bit fun due to class abilities. If they rest long enough they get a well-rested buff. Your 4 man party gets fatigued after a mission or a dungeon crawl. You can have up to 15 mercs(after company upgrades) but you only field 4 at a time. It's like Battle Brother-lite with pretty animation. Reached the end of the EA's main questline. Maglor was the last of the oath-takers, and was said to wander the shores of the world lamenting his pain and loss.Played it for a few hours. In despair, Maedhros threw himself and his Silmaril into the depths of the Earth, while Maglor cast his into the deep ocean. They stole the Silmarils from the camp of the victorious host, but because of the evils they had committed in recovering them, they found that they could no longer touch the holy Jewels without enduring searing pain. After the War of Wrath and Morgoth's defeat at the end of the First Age, just two of the original oath-takers survived, Fëanor's eldest sons Maedhros and Maglor. That Silmaril was lost to Fëanor's sons, but two more remained on Morgoth's Crown.

Carried out to sea by the power of Ulmo, Elwing brought it to her husband Eärendil the Mariner, and they sailed with it back into the West. When the Silmaril escaped them there, they discovered that it was held at the Mouths of Sirion by Dior's daughter Elwing again they attacked, and again the Silmaril escaped them. They attacked and destroyed the kingdom of Doriath, killing Thingol's Heir Dior. Thereupon, the Sons of Fëanor made war upon the other Elves of Beleriand for the recovery of the Jewel. The true danger of the Oath was revealed after Beren and Lúthien recovered one of the three Silmarils from the depths of Angband. From that time on, while Morgoth held the three Silmarils in his Iron Crown, the Elves of Beleriand were bound by a common enemy.

Fëanor himself was mortally wounded by Balrogs in the Noldor's first assault. Driven by the unbreakable Oath, Fëanor led the greater part of the Noldor out of Aman and back to Middle-earth, in hopeless pursuit of the Dark Lord. They swore in the name of Ilúvatar that they would not rest until the three Silmarils were in their hands, and to make war on any who withheld them.Īt the time the Oath was sworn, Morgoth held all three of the Silmarils, having stolen them from Fëanor's stronghold at Formenos. The dreadful irrevocable oath taken by Fëanor and his seven sons in the city of Tirion.
